I’m always surprised by the emotional reaction that I have in the moment the atmosphere dances with sunlight to create a beautiful expansive sky. Too often I allow these moments to slip by, wrapped up in the busy of life. Sometimes I'm stopped in my tracks. These are the displays that fill me with wonder. How can light and air create such a scene?

I never want to miss subtle sky drama. The casting of dusk’s shadow on the earth while colorful daylight still dances above. Is it a dance...or is it a fight? The way clouds move across the sky dissolving and soaking up the light…not white but every color of light.

 

I work with encaustic to build translucent layers that allow light to pass through, in hopes of capturing the essence of this beauty.
