Cross-country skiing in WV isn’t just a sport—it’s a journey into the heart of nature’s quiet endurance and grace. Gliding through Canaan Valley’s winter wonderland, I paused atop Bald Knob, mesmerized by the trees filtering soft, light like nature’s own stained glass. How do these resilient giants endure the fierce winters—so beautiful, yet so unforgiving? Their secret lies in silent strength: deep roots clutching frozen earth, branches sculpted by wind and snow, and a patient rhythm with the seasons. They’ve witnessed countless winters, standing tall through storms and sunrises alike. these ancient sentinels hold their wisdom, if only we listen closely enough to hear the stories.
